Favicon plays a major role in your blog’s branding and having this is very important for all your blog. We have already had an article on various tools to generate Favicon and importance of this for your blog. By now you must be aware of plugin if you are regular reader of our blog. So now when some one wants to have favicon in his blog which all the steps which he needs to follow in order to get his favicon visible.

Well first if all if he is using a theme which allows him to add favicon from his wordpress control panel then all he need to do is log in to WordPress and click on add new which is under media. Now click on add new and upload an image.

Once you are done with this go to the media library and check the image you have uploaded is there or not in media library and then click on either edit or view and copy the url of this image and once done just go to your WordPress admin panel and look for upload favicon and paste the url there and now your favicon will be visible in your WordPress blog.

It is not possible to use WordPress admin or other softwares like Windows Live Writer to be used at all times for publishing a post. At times you maybe out on a vacation or in a meeting where you don’t have access to these accounts. So what do you then. Not post anything on your blog?

The answer is a big no. you still get to do that and that too by just sending an email. Just follow the steps below and you will be able to post articles on your blog using an email id.

Create an Account

The first step is to create an email id that will be used only for the purpose of posting articles on WordPress.

• After logging on to your WordPress Admin/Id, go to settings.

• There you will find the following option: “Writing”.

• Open that. You will find a section “Post Via Email”. Here, enter the email id that you want to use for this. Read the instructions, which are given at the end of the page, before entering any email id. This email id will be a combination of the three random strings of numbers provided by WordPress.

• Now all you need to do is make an email account on your web hosts server using the string of numbers provided to you.

• Or if you want to use any other service like Gmail, Yahoo, etc, then that can also be configured. You will find all the details of the accounts in the settings section of these accounts.

• But WordPress doesn’t recommend that you use any other service apart from there own to post via email. They give special warning not use any public or free email provider for this.

Configure the email id with WordPress

• Once you are done with creating an email id, you need to configure with with WordPress so that your post is published automatically.

• Go back to the option “Writing”. There will be two options, Mail Server and Port Number, fill up these options.

• Now fill in the email id name and password, of your new account.

• Next step would involve you to set the default settings for publishing the posts. This will already be assigned.

• And just click on save settings.

Publishing your Posts

This is the most important step in the whole process.

• Doing it Manually

1. Since every email that is sent to this email id will be published directly to your blog, you need to do the following every time you send an email.
2. As soon as you have sent the email, open the following link

“http://example.com/installdir/wp-mail.php”

3.   Your blog will be updated only after open this link.

• Using Postie Plugin to post it Automatically

Postie plugin can be a better option since it lets you publish your post via email, with the authors name, images and videos. All this is not available in the other option. Find the Postie Plugin here and get it installed on your WordPress.

Many times it happens when you want to know who all are talking about your article over web and in various social bookmarking sites like Digg, Friendfeed, Twitter etc. You must have seen in our blog that tweets come as comments below posts and it shows the person who has tweeted this. For this plugin all you need to do is download this plugin form here or just go to the add plugin and search for back type connect and click on install and once this is done, you need to configure this from this plugin admin panel. it asks for Twitter API key which needs to be filled. Now once you install it you may configure it as you may want to. You may choose various social bookmarking activities to show in comments of your blog. Here you have option of choosing among various options such as activities on Digg, Friendfeed, Twitter etc. Just choose among them and click on enable and now tweets will show in your post comments.
