How to Increase iPhone 4 and iPad 2 Battery Life

Just now i wrote an article on Jailbreak iOS 5 with Redsnow 0.9.8b4 . After buying and using iPad 2 and iPhone 4 I used my idevices for more than 12-13 hours at a stretch and was concerned about the battery life, though initially it is giving me nice battery back up however it is not going to be the same forever so I will have to take some steps in order to increase the battery life. This devices are too good to use when there is proper battery back up and just in case if it is not there then you will be in big problem and replacing batteries every time is not advisable and Apple accessories are damn expensive. So I have taken many steps to increase the battery life of my iPad 2 and iPhone 4 and they are as below,

  • Turn off Bluetooth: It is advisable to turn off the Bluetooth as as long as Bluetooth is on it keeps on searching for Bluetooth signals and that consumes lot of battery.
  • Turn off push notification and push e-mail : It is important to turn off push mails and notification on your iPhone 4 and ipad 2 if you are using it as it takes lot of battey.

  • Reduce brightness: Well is is understood that more brightness will result in more battery consumption so do not let this happen to your iPhone 4 and iPad 2.
  • Turn off Apps which are running in background: If there are any apps which are running in background then go ahead and turn it off as these apps consumes lot of battery.
  • Keep all the apps, iOS and apps updated: It is important for you to have all the applications, iOS, apps updated as outdated iOS and apps consumes lot of battery. So keep updating your iPhone 4 and iPad 2.
  • Reduce the auto lock time: Always have lower auto lock time as it helps your iPhone 4 and iPad to turn off the display in minimum time lock your iDevice.
  • Turn off GPS and location services : Do turn off GPS and location based map services if not required as they keep searching for location and there is a constant communication between your device and the server.
  • Charge it full every time: This is very very important for you to charge your iPhone 4 and iPad to charge to the fullest as every battery has certain number of charging hits and every time you connect your device to charge, you take out 1 hit from it. So do charge your iPhone 4 and iPad 2 to the fullest when you charge.
  • Adjust data fetch settings: You also need to adjust data fetch setting on your iPhone 4 and fir this you need to do this ,

    In Settings -> Mail, Contacts, Calendars ->Fetch New Data and then make it 30 minutes or 1 hour. You can also make these settings Settings -> Mail, Contacts, Calendars -> Fetch New Data -> Advanced and it will not take data automatically.

  • Disable 3G, wi-fi, vibration, equalizer and unwanted tone: As mention do disable  3G, wi-fi, vibration and unwanted tone as it consumes unwanted battery from your iPhone 4 and iPAd 2.

Google Translate App for iPhone

In an official announcement, Google has recently launched its translate app for iPhone and it will allow users to translate the audio inputs to text in their iPhone. This app is available for free to download. This app was recently launched and was announced in googlemobile.blogspot.com. For this you need to activate the app and then speck and you may listen to the translated term or can see in text. This is available in 23 difference languages.

IOS 4.3 Release In February, Rumour

There has been a lot of buzz about ios 4.3, many people are talking about this and it is said that this will not allow users to jail break and apart from that it will be released with many flaws fixed. Few days back there was a rumour that it will be released on 13th February but recently Macstories is saying that they are going to launch ios 4.3 on 14th February at 10 AM. Now if we go by Macstories, they have mentioned this on their website,

“According to several reports surfaced earlier this week, Apple is targeting a release of the next major iOS update, version 4.3, in two weeks. We just got word from a reliable source that iOS 4.3 should be available on February 14th at 10 AM PST.”
